Stress. We all have it. We all feel it. And boy can it wear us down!

There are plenty of things to be worried about in this day and age. Money, employment, kids, etc. Having stress in your life is certainly to be expected, but letting it get out of hand can have a real negative impact on your overall health.

An over abundance of stress can cause a wide variety of medical problems. High blood pressure, weight gain/loss, tiredness, aches and pains, to name a few.

Some people think that they are in control of their stress and managing it well, when in fact the stress is really wearing them down.

So what do you do?

I would urge you to look at your life and identify the things that you have no control over, and also the things that you do have control over. Identify specifically what is stressing you out, and troubleshoot the options that you have to make things a bit better.

Take breaks from stressful situations. Find things that you can do to relieve stress, and do them! Think of things that help relax you. For example, if thoughts of the beach helps you feel calmer, carry a picture of the beach with you, to refer to during those difficult times. Too often, we have these tools in front of us and fail to use them.

Stress affects your overall health, and you really do need to do something about it. Remember, it is okay to feel stressed, you just need to find healthy ways to relieve it!
